Enjoy a return jouney from Alresford to Alton on the Watercress Line. The Watercress Line is a 19th-century heritage railway with steam trains traveling through vintage stations. The railway is operated by Mid-Hants Railway Ltd, whose major shareholder is the Watercress Line Heritage Railway Trust (WLHRT), a registered charity. Many of the locomotives now operating on the line were rescued from a scrapyard in Barry, South Wales, and have been restored to their former glory by our staff and volunteers.
Alresford is a Georgian town of colour-washed houses, riverside walks and specialist shops and is the hub of the UK watercress industry.
Alresford is the perfect place for strolling and there is plenty to please the eye including St John’s parish church and Old Alresford Pond created by Bishop de Lucy in the 12th century.

Depart Chickerell 09:00 - Portland 09:30 - Weymouth 10:00 - Dorchester 10:30
Arrive Alresford 12:30 approx. With plenty of time to find lunch and take a leisurely stroll or maybe look into some of the specialist shops. Train departs Alresford 15:00 with a return from Alton at 16:00
Train arrives back into Alresford at 16:35
Coach will depart 17:00
