ITINERARY
Sunday - Morning departure from Dorset northwards via motorways to Preston for overnight stay at the Holiday Inn with 3 course dinner and breakfast.
Monday - Across the Borders, through Clydesdale, past Stirling, follow the Strathallen to Perth for a warm welcome at The Royal George Hotel.
Tuesday - Immerse yourself in Scotland's history as you experience the crowning place of Scottish kings - Scone Palace. Enjoy the Palace and its rare and beautiful collections, walk The Long Gallery, see stunning paintings and classic French furnishings, explore the Pinetum and view the famous Douglas fir before taking on the challenge of the star shaped maze.
Wednesday - The morning is free to discover Perth with its pedestrianized centre, beautiful buildings, museums, galleries, gardens and parks. This afternoon we shall visit Blair Castle at Blair Atholl, dating back to 1269 it has evolved from its cold medieval beginnings through Georgian mansion to a fine Victorian castle. A tea of homemade soup and sandwiches is served in the Tullibardine Restaurant at 4:30pm (replaces hotel dinner). We then drive to Pitchlochry and transfer to a shuttle bus (6:30pm) that takes us into the Faskally Woods for an evening's show of The Enchanted Forest. Dazzling visuals are set against a musical score, aerial artists perform their gravity defying antics, storytellers will enthrall you, mulled wine and hot chocolate will tempt you. This is like nothing you will have seen before, a unique and award winning concept. You will need to walk around the forest circuit which is just over 1 mile and takes 30-40 minutes, although many people go around more than once. Our shuttle bus leaves the forest at 8:30pm and our coach will return you to our hotel in Perth by 10pm.
Thursday - Drive across Kinross via Crieff into the Trossachs National Park - the road ends at Loch Katrine, a magnificent landscape immortalised in words by Sir Walter Scott. A place where time seems to stand still, the perfect place to fully appreciate breathtaking Autumn scenery. We shall join a 2 hour Steamship cruise on the loch from Trossachs Pier to Stronachlachar at the heart of the Great Trossachs Forest and listen to tales and legends as you travel. A truly memorable and nostalgic experience.
Friday - Leaving Perth this morning we drive to Falkirk and view the famous Kelpies - mystical 30 metre high steel sculptures of horse heads that have become a national treasure. Continue southwards passing Cumbria for overnight at The Holiday Inn Preston.
Saturday - Homewards via motorways with stops for refreshment as appropriate to return to Dorset that evening.
