When we organise a Christmas Holiday we understand that it has to be something really special to do justice to this magical time of year. Expectations are always high and only the very best in terms of accommodation, food, service and inclusive extras will satisfy these requirements. We have selected the uniquely charming resort of Riva del Garda, where the water is a deeper blue, the sunlight more intense and the air is more invigorating. Surrounded by rich Mediterranean vegetation at the northern end of the lake, and in the shadow of the imposing Dolomites of Brenta, you could not wish for a more dramatic location. After rave reviews in two previous seasons we are delighted to again offer this Christmas holiday based at the 4 star Savoy Palace Hotel in Riva which offers personal attention and exceptionally high standards – we are sure you will be impressed!
ITINERARY
Saturday - Very early morning departure from Dorset for channel crossing to Calais and onwards through France for overnight stop at Novotel St Avold. Dinner and breakfast included.
Sunday - Southbound through Germany and crossing the Alps into Northern Italy - on arrival at Riva a welcome drink while our bags are taken to the rooms.
Monday - Morning at leisure to appreciate your surroundings and get your bearings. Leave hotel at 11:30 to Romeo & Juliet's Verona - one of the most beautiful cities in Italy. A local guide will show us the sights and tell us the stories (2 hour walking tour) then there will be free time to make your own discoveries.
Tuesday (Christmas Eve) - Sightseeing around Lake Garda visiting a host of pretty towns. There is stunning scenery - you will be reaching for your camera time and again! A combination of coach and boat cruise is included which will view the Ponale waterfall, go ashore at Limone and then cross the lake to Malcesine, to give a different perspective of the waterside sights. Back at the hotel an aperitif under the Christmas tree is included before a Gala dinner.
Wednesday - (Christmas Day) A morning stroll alongside the lake brings you into the quaint old town centre with its winding alleyways and narrow streets - the perfect way to hone your appetite. A Turkey lunch is included. This afternoon enjoy your spectacular surroundings and soak up the atmosphere of Christmas in Italy. A special Christmas cake is served. Later another Gala dinner this evening will make this a Christmas to remember!
Thursday (Boxing Day) - Excursion to "The Valley of the Lakes" and the virtually undiscovered Brenta Nature Park. The route takes in the medieval artists' town of Canale, passes Lake Tenno and the Comano Terme, onto Lake Toblino and the village of Lasino - awe-inspiring scenery, fabulous views, history and heritage. At the Pisoni vineyard near Lasino we shall get to sample fine wines and the famous Grappa local brandy.
Friday - Sadly it is time to leave Italy. Relax and enjoy the Alpine views en route to our overnight stay at Novotel St Avold. Dinner and breakfast included.
Saturday - Through Northern France to Calais. Early evening channel crossing to Calais and return to Dorset late that night.

Hotel Savoy Palace, Riva del Garda
A very fine 4 star hotel located close to the marina and only a short walk from the lake. Guest bedrooms are well appointed and provide private shower/wc with free toiletries, large satellite TV, wifi, minibar, safe, heating and air-con, phone, hairdryer and all have a balcony. The hotel has a lively piano bar which presents daily live music and dancing – there are also quieter lounges and extensive gardens in which to relax. The restaurant provides an extensive hot & cold breakfast buffet, and 4 course evening dinners which are waiter served plus a salad buffet. Two of the evening meals will be “Gala” dinners with special menus. On Christmas Day a turkey lunch and Christmas cake is included. For those who over-indulge the hotel offers an indoor heated pool (towels provided) gym, sauna and jacuzzi. Lifts serve all floors.
