Bridgwater Carnival

The biggest and best illuminated carnival in the World!

The history of the Bridgwater carnival dates back to the 1605 gunpowder plot when Guy Fawkes failed to blow up the Houses of Parliament. The town takes its Carnival very seriously and it is reputed to be the largest illuminated carnival in the entire world, raising thousands of pounds for charity each year. Some of the floats in the two hour procession can be nearly 18 feet high, 11 feet wide and 100 feet long and are illuminated by up to 30,000 light bulbs. A truly magnificent spectacle!

Arrive in Bridgwater by 15;30 - Roads closed into town at 16:00
Coaches drop-off and park at Bridgwater Rugby Club immediately adjacent to the
procession route (2 mins walk). Refreshments, snacks & toilets available at Rugby Club.
Procession starts at 18:00 and lasts about 2 hours.
Coaches will leave Bridgwater 30 minutes after last float has passed Rugby Club.
Expect to return home between 22:00 and 23:00
