Paying tribute to the Great British Variety Show at Christmas - 4 nights of Live Entertainment, Festive Fun, Laughter, Music and Magic!
We understand that a Christmas holiday has to be something a bit special to do justice to this magical time of year. This is a traditional British Christmas with all the expect trimmings, entertainment, amazing leisure facilities and a programme of sightseeing to fully appreciate your surroundings. Our specially selected venue in Haydock has laid on 4 nights of Festive Fun, Laughter, Music and Magic which pays tribute to the Great British Variety Show at Christmas. Each night there will be a live performance by a top variety act which culminates in a full variety show “VIVA CHRISTMAS” on the final night.
ITINERARY
Saturday (23rd) - Morning departure from Dorset with stops for refreshment as appropriate to arrive in Haydock late afternoon. You are welcomed with mulled wine and mince pies while the bags are portered. After settling in enjoy a 3 course dinner followed by a live variety act to entertain you.
Sunday (24th) - Christmas Eve: Drive to Blakemere Village in Cheshire - a unique collection of retailers, craft workshops, entertainment, food and drinks in a country park setting. After time to enjoy the site we move on to The Anderton Boat Lift visitor centre - a gigantic three storey iron edifice and marvel of Victorian engineering on the Trent & Mersey Canal. Back at the hotel we are treated to yet another delicious 3 course dinner with variety entertainment to follow into the night.
Monday (25th) - Christmas Day: Merry Christmas! After breakfast you can open your presents and enjoy a swim or short stroll which will hone your appetite for the banquet to come. A traditional Christmas lunch with all the trimmings is served. At 3pm watch the Kings speech. A lighter buffet supper is provided this evening. Another spectacular helping of variety entertainment rounds off your Christmas Day.
Tuesday (26th) - Boxing Day: We shall visit the RHS newest garden restoration at Bridgewater near Manchester - at 156 acres it is the largest horticultural project in Europe. Even in the depths of winter there is so much interest to see here. Back at the hotel this evening we shall enjoy a 3 course Gala dinner followed by the amazing "VIVA CHRISTMAS" Variety Cabaret Show.
Wednesday (27th) - We head homewards with maybe a few extra pounds of weight onboard, to return to Dorset late that afternoon.

Mercure Haydock Hotel
A 4 star luxury hotel set in a Georgian mansion style building surrounded by landscaped gardens. All of the bright and modern bedrooms provide private bathroom with free toiletries, hairdryer, television, phone, free wifi, safe, iron and tea tray. Beechers Restaurant serves a wide variety of delicious dishes in elegant surroundings, accompanied by an extensive wine list. The Haydock Lounge is a relaxing bar in which to socialise. There are extensive leisure and spa facilities available for guests use, including a large indoor heated pool, jacuzzi, sauna and gym. No lift but rooms are only on ground and first floor. The hotel will be festively decorated for Christmas and as well as providing live entertainment each evening there will be bingo, competitions and quiz’s organised by the resident host.
