An important Tudor Palace, this atmospheric mansion has some illustriuos connections, from Henry VIII, to Jane Austen. Outside, explore acres of Wildlife-rich gardens, meadows and woods

The Vyne has been home to lords and ladies for over five centuries. Through the years it's hosted Tudor kings and queens, been the home of a Speaker for the House of Commons and sheltered evacuees during the Second World War. With only two families owning the estate through history, there are many stories to be uncovered.

The house is set in 13 acres of beautiful, relaxing gardens. Styles range from the formal summerhouse and stone gallery gardens with fine herbaceous borders, to the more natural wild garden and fruit trees of the orchard and walled garden. Nestled in the Hampshire countryside, The Vyne Estate also features acres of woodland with trails that pass by ancient trees, a medieval fishpond and the park pale. The wetlands attract an abundance of bird life. The rolling parkland grazed by cattle perfects the lakeside setting.

GARDENS

There are nine hectares of garden surrounding the house at The Vyne. Two lakes, a walled garden, formal garden and meadow along with lawns and a herbaceous border sit neatly inside this area. There is plenty for you to explore through the seasons, from the 17th-century summerhouse to a 600-year-old oak tree.

HOUSE

The Sandys and Chute families made The Vyne their home for over 500 years. They accumulated beautiful and important objects and made significant changes to the house during their lives, which you will see as you explore the opulent state rooms and humble servants’ quarters.

The Brewhouse tea-room

Stepping over the threshold, There are one-pots to stoke you up on a grey day. Alternatively, you can enjoy a sandwich followed by a delicious home-baked cake or cream tea with a fluffy scone, jam, clotted cream and a hot drink. Seating is available inside or in the tea-garden.

The original oak beams and stonework can still be seen inside the 17th-century brewhouse, where hops grown on the estate were made into ale. The cosy interior creates a relaxing place for you to refuel after a walk in the woodlands or tour of the house.
