An opportunity to visit the National Memorial Arboretum a living, growing tribute to all those who have served our Nation a 150 acre site, home to over 330 thought-provoking memorials, both military and civilian. Rich in design and symbolism, and sympathetic to the arboretum they are set in which contains over 30,000 trees. A moving and fascinating visit. Our tour also includes a nostalgic journey on the Gloucestershire & Warkwickshire Railway a round trip of 28 miles behind a magnificent steam engine through the delightful Cotswold Hills scenery.
ITINERARY
Friday - Morning departure from Dorset to Stratford-on-Avon, steeped in history and culture, preserved timbered buildings and quaint shops - time for sightseeing and lunch. Resume to Coventry and after settling in enjoy dinner.
Saturday - To the National Memorial Arboretum near Lichfield - we shall arrive in time for the 11:00 Daily Act of Remembrance which includes a 2 minute silence, followed by a Land Train guided tour of the site with commentary. Afterwards there will be free time for personal visits - A diverse programme of exhibitions changes throughout the year. The Remembrance Centre features audio-visual displays, artistic interpretation, and an opportunity to share experiences. Return to the hotel later that afternoon.
Sunday - Drive to Broadway "The Jewel of the Cotswolds". Join the 10:50 steam train departure travelling through glorious countryside and restored period stations to Cheltenham, arriving 11:45. Time for a photo while the engine runs around. Train leaves Cheltenham at 12:20 , return to Broadway at 13:16. Coach transfer into pretty Broadway High Street for lunch. Leave at 14:45 to drive homewards, arriving back in Dorset early evening.

A modern high quality hotel venue ideally situated just outside of Coventry and convenient for our chosen itinerary visits. All the bright and spacious bedrooms provide private bathroom with free toiletries and hairdryer, big comfy beds, large digital TV with satellite channels, phone, tea ray, iron/press, air-conditioning and free wifi. Alift serves all three floors and room service is available. The restaurant is stylish and relaxed offering a full English buffet breakfast and evening dinner with choice of menu.
