A unique place - not actually part of the UK but feeling resolutely British with unusual traditions and culture.

Guernsey is a unique place – like the rest of the Channel islands it is not actually part of the UK, but nonetheless feels resolutely British. Due to its close proximity to the French mainland and its unusual traditions and culture it also feels like you are holidaying abroad when you come here. The island is blessed with a spectacular coastline ranging from long sandy beaches to hidden coves and stunning cliffs. The neighbouring island of Sark is the crown jewel of the Channel Islands and with no motor vehicles permitted, here we have included a horse-drawn carriage ride around the sights of this tranquil and sleepy haven.

This holiday is escorted by a Bluebird representative throughout.

NB: Change of tour dates.

Original dates shown in our brochure were 2nd/6th October 2023.  Unfortunately the sailing schedule subsequently published by Condor Ferries between Poole and Guernsey did not offer any suitable crossing times due to tidal restrictions.  Therefor we have changed the dates and this holiday will now operate from Saturday 14th to Wednesday 18th October 2023.  Hotel, itinerary and prices remain unchanged.

ITINERARY

Saturday - Morning Bluebird coach transfer to Poole in order to join the Condor Fast Ferry departing early afternoon to St Peter Port, Guernsey (approx 3 hour crossing). We are welcomed by a local coach operator who will transfer us to our hotel located in a prominent seafront position on the Vale Peninsula just 4 miles to the north.

Sunday - A full day guided tour of Guernsey with a local coach operator. Explore the beautiful scenery, beaches and view-points - hear tales of ancient history, the Nazi occupation and famous residents. Visit the Little Chapel beautifully decorated with seashells and pebbles, then the Freesia Centre to enjoy the exotic fragrances of the stunning blooms.

Monday - A full day excursion to the sleepy Isle of Sark, a real timewarp. A local coach will transfer you to the port to join the 50 minute ferry crossing to Sark. On arrival a tractor-train will haul you up the formidable cliffs to the Islands chocolate box style main town - just a single road really! Here we join a relaxing 1 hour horse-drawn carriage ride of this unspoilt island with just the sounds of the creaking harness and rhythmic thud of hooves on unsurfaced roads. There will be free time to make your own discoveries before the return boat leaves for St Peter Port.

Tuesday - Enjoy a day at leisure. Around the hotel is scope for coast and countryside walks and a short stroll is richly rewarded. There is a regular bus service into St Peter Port where attractions include the historic castle, museums and galleries, wartime history, beautiful gardens, boutique shopping and café culture.

Wednesday - Morning coach transfer from hotel to port where we shall join the lunch-time Fast Ferry sailing for Poole, arriving that afternoon. Your Bluebird Coach awaits and will return you homewards.
