A long weekend to enjoy the fabulous Christmas Markets of Northern France at an absolutely unbelievable bargain price – you’d be hard-pressed to find a long weekend to any of the UK Christmas Markets at this sort of price! We have trimmed this one back to the bare essentials so you have the opportunity of enjoying the amazing festive fun and special yuletide atmosphere in these attractive and historic towns. As well as pretty wooden cabins selling all manner of goodies there are Christmas illuminations, Christmas Trees, Fairground rides, Festive foods and drink – it all makes for a magical atmosphere. At this price we expect this tour to sell out very quickly so book early – the price shown is not a misprint – just £299 for a 4 day tour!
ITINERARY
Friday - Early morning departure from Dorset via channel crossing to Calais and onwards to the medieval city of Rouen, capital of Normandy. Check-in to our hotel late afternoon with the evening free to walk to the nearby Christmas Market (open until 9pm) and source your dinner.
Saturday - Enjoy a day of sightseeing in Rouen - a veritable museum city it leaves no visitor indifferent with its beautiful half-timbered houses, narrow cobbled streets, gothic churches, art galleries, public gardens, riverside walks and boutique shopping. The Christmas Market is centred on the cathedral and opens at 10am with over 40 wooden chalets plus a carousel. There is a famous Nativity scene inside the cathedral and as darkness falls this evening the town is bedecked in twinkling lights.
Sunday - Drive to Arras, one of the largest Christmas wonderlands in Northern France. Held in the Grand Place - you couldn't dream of a more perfect and beautiful place to celebrate Christmas. With more than 140 chalets you'll have no end of choice of Christmas gifts. There are fairground rides, a Christmas Tree roundabout with colourful baubles, a sledge run and skating rink. The aromas of mulled wine, chocolate and gingerbread tempt you as you stroll down the aisles. Local bands provide musical accompaniment. Stay in Arras until early evening - return to Rouen by 8:30pm
Monday - After a leisurely breakfast we drive to Bethune, a pretty historic town in the Artois district. It has a Christmas market on a much smaller scale than Arras or Rouen, and so much more charming for it. There will be time for lunch and to peruse the chalets before continuing to Calais. Late afternoon channel crossing to Dover and return to Dorset late that night.

A modern and stylish 3 star budget hotel situated close to the riverside and just a stones throw to the old town and cathedral. Bedrooms provide all the essentials for a comfortable stay with private bathroom, hairdryer, television, phone, safe, iron, air-con/heating and free wifi. An all you can eat continental breakfast buffet is include each morning (pastries, scrambled eggs, bacon, cold meats, cheeses, breads, yogurts, fruit, juices & hot drinks) and dinner can be sourced in a wide variety of local cafes, restaurants or takeaways nearby – you will be spoilt for choice! The bar serves snacks and is a comfortable place to socialise and enjoy a drink. There is a lift to all floors.
