A living, growing tribute to all those who have served our Nation - 150 acres, 330 memorials, 30,000 trees...
An opportunity to visit the National Memorial Arboretum – a living, growing tribute to all those who have served our Nation – a 150 acre site, home to over 330 thought-provoking memorials, both military and civilian. Rich in design and symbolism, and sympathetic to the arboretum they are set in which contains over 30,000 trees. A moving and fascinating visit. Our tour also includes a visit to The Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Steam Railway – a 29 mile round trip behind heritage locomotive through the Cotswold Hills scenery affording glorious views of the Vale of Evesham and Malvern Hills.
ITINERARY
Sunday - Morning departure from Dorset to Oxford for lunch and sightseeing. Continue to our hotel and after settling in enjoy a delicious dinner in the restaurant.
Monday - To the National Memorial Arboretum near Lichfield - we shall arrive in time for the 11:00 Daily Act of Remembrance which includes a 2 minute silence. Following an introductory talk we shall board the Land Train for a guided tour of the site with commentary. Afterwards there will be free time for personal visits. Return to the hotel later that afternoon.
Tuesday- A visit to The Valley Evesham, a country park that offers stunning countryside views and wonderful walks - tucked away on-site are 22 shops, a garden centre and eateries. This afternoon we drive to nearby Toddington for a 75 minute round trip on the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire heritage railway - commanding wonderful views of the Cotswold scenery passing delightful stone villages and sleepy hamlets. A nostalgic experience that recalls the atmosphere and traditions of yester-year.
Wednesday - After breakfast we drive homewards, stopping for lunch, to arrive back in Dorset that afternoon.

A modern high quality 4 star hotel venue ideally situated just outside of Coventry and convenient for our chosen itinerary visits. All the bright and spacious bedrooms provide private bathroom with free toiletries and hairdryer, big comfy beds, large digital TV with satellite channels, telephone, tea tray, iron/press, air-conditioning and free wifi. A lift serves all three floors and room service is available. The restaurant is stylish and relaxed, offering a buffet breakfast and 3 course dinner with choices. There is a lounge/bar in which to socialise, or you can stroll 5 mins down the road to the popular Mount Pleasant Pub.
