ITINERARY
Sunday - Morning departure from Dorset across the Severn Bridge and stop in Caerphilly for lunch. Continue to Llanelli with a welcome cuppa on arrival while the bags are portered to the rooms.
Monday - Enjoy the beautiful scenery of The Gower Peninsula and The Mumbles - renowned for its sandy beaches, wild moors and stunning cliffs. We shall visit the Gower Heritage Centre housed in a converted water mill - a local guide will join us for a coach tour of The Gower and show us the highlights.
Tuesday - Visit Tenby, probably the most iconic seaside town in Wales and full of quaintness and charm. Fortified by the Normans, most of the old town walls remain enclosing narrow cobbled streets and medieval houses. It has a busy harbour with a colourful fishing fleet and regular pleasure boats to off-shore Caldey Island. Designated a conservation area since 1972 it remains unspoilt and attractive. Later call at the charming village of Laugharne - a sleepy, timeless and tranquil town immortalised by the poet Dylan Thomas. Here you can see his home, his grave and the famous wooden boathouse where he created so many powerful works.
Wednesday - The National Botanic Garden of Wales is a mix of modern and historic gardens and woodland trails set in the idyllic countryside. Take a journey through six Mediterranean climate zones in the worlds largest single span glasshouse. Admire a vast array of exotic plants in the Tropical house and wonder at fabulous displays at the British Bird of Prey Centre. 568 spectacular acres will delight with spring-time splendour.
Thursday - Homeward bound, we shall visit St Fagan's National Museum of History near Cardiff - over 50 historical Welsh buildings have been relocated here and frozen in time. Resume back to Dorset that afternoon, returning by early evening.
