Dunster - medieval village on Exmoor : Minehead - sandy beach resort and pretty harbour on the Bristol Channel.

Situated in the sweeping hills of Exmoor National Park, Dunster is one of the most popular places on Exmoor for visitors.  It is a medieval village with an ancient castle, priory, dovecote, yarn market, inns, packhorse bridge and a mill.  Since the decline of the woollen industry in the eighteenth century the village has been locked in a time warp.  Dunster Castle, once the home of the Luttrell family, is now owned by the National Trust.  There is a plethora of tea shops and gifts shops and several excellent restaurants.  The National Park Centre here provides information on the whole area and with over 200 listed buildings Dunster is preserved so that generations to come can enjoy the historic qualities of this unique village.

Minehead is a fantastic seaside holiday destination - there are beaches to explore, a fishing quarter and an historic harbour. There’s a 14th Century church on the hill and the much-photographed historic Church Steps. Take a walk down the tree-lined Avenue and visit the selection of tea rooms, pubs and independent shops in the town centre.  The UK's longest heritage steam railway, The West Somerset Railway, terminates in the town at the beautfully restored Victorian station and provides an opportunity to view historic steam locomotives coming and going - a nostalgic step back in time.
