When we were asked to organise a New year Holiday we knew it had to be something really unique and exceptional to do justice to this special time of year.  We have selected the superb little medieval town of Vianden in Luxembourg – embedded in the splendid landscape of the Ardennes, it has been a tourist attraction for more than a hundred years.  Former home to the famous French poet Victor Hugo, visitors are charmed by the narrow lanes, gothic churches, ramparts and fortified towers of the town, dominated by the magnificent restored castle.  Our specially selected hotel provides a variety of celebratory entertainment and themed meals and we have included a range of inclusive excursions and activities that will really make for a memorable New Year.

BELLE-VUE HOTEL, Vianden

Situated in the centre of this small and friendly town, a modern but character hotel offering 70 spacious and comfortable guest bedrooms all recently refurbished to 4 star standard.  Facilities include private bathroom, television/radio and phone in all bedrooms, all of which are accessible by lift.  The lovely restaurant provides a three course evening meal nightly in relaxed surroundings and accompanied by attentive yet discreet service.  On New Years Eve we include a gastronomic 6 course gala dinner with champagne, live music and fireworks!  A New Years Day brunch is included (replacing breakfast) to give you a lie-in after the celebrations.  On your last nights stay a speciality Luxembourg Steengrill platter has been arranged, and again live music will feature. 

ITINERARY

MONDAY 29^th – Morning departure from Dorset to Folkestone for Eurotunnel crossing to Calais.  Across Belgium and into Luxembourg where dinner awaits at Vianden.

TUESDAY 30^th –  Excursion to Trier, Germanys oldest town just over the border and overlooked by  an impressive cathedral and Roman tower.  Later that afternoon we shall visit Luxembourg’s largest wine producer “Bernard Massard” and enjoy a guided tour and tastings.

WEDNESDAY 31^st – New Years Eve!  A guided tour of the Muellerthal area, otherwise known as “Little Switzerland”.  Enjoy some free time in the thousand year old cultural town of Echternach before returning to hotel.  This evening a spectacular 6 course gala dinner, with champagne, live music, dancing and fireworks takes us late into the night.

THURSDAY 1^st – Rise late and enjoy a New Year’s Day brunch.  The rest of the day is at leisure in Vianden – a treasure house of historic sights and surrounded by beautiful scenery.

FRIDAY 2^nd – Excursion to Luxembourg City with an included guided tour of the sights on the Petrusse electric train.  Free time for shopping that afternoon before return to hotel.  This evening the hotel has arranged a speciality Luxembourg Steengrill platter meal followed by an evening of live music.

SATURDAY 3^rd – Homeward bound with a short stop at Durbuy “the smallest town in the World” and an unspoilt gem.  Resume to Calais for Eurotunnel crossing to Folkestone and so return to Dorset that evening.
