Join in the fun as you wander around the stalls looking for that unusual gift, continental delicacy or Christmas decorations so rarely found at home. Warm yourself with hot mulled wine, and sample such tasty delights as Bratwurst, spicy gingerbread and pastries.  The atmosphere is further enhanced by performances from local choirs and spectacular illuminations.

HOTEL EBERTOR, Boppard

For 2008 we have decided to change hotels and offer an improved level of comfort and higher standard of service while maintaining the friendliness and welcome.  The Ebertor Hotel is in an excellent location directly beside the River Rhine, close to the centre of Boppard.  It is situated adjacent to the historic Ebertor Tower and incorporates the ancient wine cellar of a Cisterian  abbey – the “Klosterkeller”.  The extensive facilities available include a charming restaurant, bowling alley, shooting hall and tennis courts.  All the bedrooms are comfortable and offer shower/WC, satellite tv, radio and telephone.  The hotel does not have a lift, although some ground floor bedrooms are available on request.

ITINERARY

MONDAY – Very early morning departure for Eurotunnel crossing to Calais and drive through Belgium to arrive Boppard in Germany early evening.

 During our stay we shall make the following excursions -

• Visit the Christmas Market at Koblenz, with time to browse the stalls as well as the under-cover Lohr Shopping Centre.

• Visit Trier, Germanys oldest town with a superb Christmas Market overlooked by the impressive cathederal and Roman tower. Stop at Cochem in the Mosel Valley on the way back.

• Cross the mighty Rhine river by ferry, and head south to Rudesheim, for another Christmas Market.

FRIDAY – Homeward bound this morning, joining a late afternoon Eurotunnel crossing and drive back to Dorset by late night.
