The German Christmas Markets has always been one of our most popular holidays and many people are regular travellers each year. In 2007 we introduced this alternative way of enjoying this annual attraction and have been pleasantly surprised with the response.  So much so that we simply had to repeat it again for 2008.  Enjoy the enchanting landscapes and riverside scenery from an entirely different perspective as you cruise majestically in comfort and in style through a land of history, mystery and legend…. quite unforgettable at this festive time of year!

MV VIRGINIA

The MV Virginia is a friendly and intimate ship which can accommodate over 100 passengers comfortably on three decks. It is air-conditioned throughout and offers a high standard of accommodation, tastefully furnished lounge with bar and dance floor, restaurant and partially sheltered sun deck.  All cabins are outward facing and have, air conditioning, shower & toilet, satellite TV with in-house movies and twin beds (no bunks!)  Stay onboard for 3 nights on a full-board basis (breakfast, lunch & dinner) which also includes a welcome cocktail, morning coffee and afternoon tea. Note – no lift between decks.

ITINERARY

NOTE : The itinerary and dates has changed from  that published in our brochure - we feel these changes will effect improvements in the tour, with the benefit of hindsight and experience of last years Rhine Cruise.

Thursday – Morning departure from Dorset to Folkestone to join an early afternoon Eurotunnel crossing to Calais.  Drive into Belgium and stay overnight at the Grand Hotel Damier in the historic and charming town of Kortrijk (Courtrai) in Belgium.

Friday – After breakfast cross into Germany and drive on to Cologne.  The afternoon is free to explore the huge Christmas Market and enjoy this historic city.  Embark the MV Virginia late afternoon and settle into your cabin before dinner is served.

Saturday – Depart Cologne this morning and cruise up-river passing truly spectacular scenery to Bonn. The remainder of the afternoon and evening at leisure to enjoy the fabulous Christmas Market or take a spin on the huge artificial ice rink.

Sunday – Depart Bonn and cruise further up-river, passing lofty castles and pretty historic towns to Koblenz.  Afternoon and evening to enjoy one of the largest Christmas Markets in Rhineland with countless attractions, music, skating, lifesize nativity and more ….

Monday – Disembark in Koblenz at 09:00 and rejoin our coach.  Homeward bound via Eurotunnel crossing to return to Dorset late that night.
