BILLY ELLIOT is the story of a boy from a humble Tyneside background, whose mother has died, and whose father and brother are caught up in the bitterly fought community-splitting miner’s strike of 1984.  Billy’s father wants his son to learn to box, like him and his father before him.  But instead Billy becomes fascinated by the grace and magic of ballet.  BILLY ELLIOT is about a boys gritty, determined struggle, at first in secret, but later with the wholehearted backing of his family, to dance his way to the brightest of futures by winning a place at the Royal Ballet School.

ITINERARY

Saturday – Morning departure from Dorset to Reading with time for a shopping and lunch in the superb Oracle Centre.  Later that afternoon continue to our hotel, check-in and freshen up.  This evening drive to the Victoria Palace Theatre and enjoy an enchanting performance of BILLY ELLIOT – THE MUSICAL, based on the award winning film and featuring a musical score written by Sir ELTON JOHN – you are sure to fall in love with this brilliant and heart-warming production!

Sunday – After a leisurely breakfast drive to Windsor where we shall board a sightseeing cruise on the Royal River Thames at 11:00 am.  Excellent views of Windsor Castle, Eton College, The Willows, Bray Studios and Monkey Island accompanied by an interesting commentary.  A delicious Ploughmans Lunch of Cheese and Ham will be served to you while you take in the beautiful scenery.  Return to Windsor by 1:30 pm with a little free time in the town. Drive homeward that afternoon to arrive back in Dorset by early evening.
