If you like your landscapes untouched by the ravages of time where nature still reigns supreme, this is the tour for you....

The sea cliffs and sandy bays of south-west Wales form such a spectacular part of Britain that in 1952 almost all of it was designated a National Park.  186 miles of stunning coastline never fails to exhilarate visitors to this best-kept secret of Wales – an area boasting not only dramatic scenery, but historic monuments and castles. Based in the attractive resort of Tenby, with its pastel coloured buildings, narrow streets and fortified walls overlooking a shimmering bay, it is reminiscent of the Mediterranean.

ITINERARY

SUNDAY - Morning departure from Dorset, over the Severn Bridge to Tenby where dinner awaits.

MONDAY - A day at leisure in Tenby - despite the summer visitors it manages to retain its charm and well preserved character. Golden beaches, a picturesque harbour and ruined castle are some of its attractions. A 20 minute boat trip gets you to Caldey Island with its Cistercian Abbey still worked by Benedictine monks that warmly welcome visitors.

TUESDAY - Morning to Picton Castle, an unusual historic home set in 40 acres of beautiful woodland gardens. Our visit includes a guided tour of the 850 year old castle and gardens. This afternoon we take a pretty drive via Pembroke with its impressive castle (lunch stop) to Bosherston, where there will be time to enjoy the 1 mile walk around the famous lily ponds.

WEDNESDAY - To St Davids, smallest city in Britain - see the remarkable cathedral built during the 12th century and view the ruined Bishop's Palace. This afternoon call into Haverfordwest with a Norman Castle towering over the picturesque town.

THURSDAY - A visit to the National Botanic Garden of Wales near Carmarthen. The centre-piece is the Great Glasshouse containing a Mediterranean garden.

FRIDAY - Homeward bound, with lunch taken in Cardiff, to arrive back in Dorset by early evening
