Dartmoor & The Lydford Gorge

Lydford Gorge, on the western side of the moor, provides visitors with a spectacular walk along a narrow wooded path and awakens the senses with the River Lyd bubbling, thundering and meandering through the twists and turns of the gorge. A 1 mile circular walk to the 30 metre high White Lady Waterfall will give you the opportunity to appreciate these delightful surroundings - the highest falls in South West England. Depending on the weather they can be a gentle flow over the cliff face, or a raging torrent crashing into the pool below. There is a cafe and toilets available at the car park.

Note : The gorge walk involves narrow paths, steep slopes and long flights of rugged steps with uneven surfaces and can become slippery when wet. A minimum level of fitness and mobility is required. This is not a full gorge walk (which usually takes over 3 hours) and only covers "the waterfall trail" of approx 1 mile length. You are welcome to roam further into the gorge if you wish, but must ensure you leave sufficient time to return to the coach for scheduled departure at 17:00.
