A visit to Cornwall’s many and varied fishing villages is the best way to get under the skin of this seafaring county. ITINERARY

Monday - Morning departure from Dorset to Boscastle for lunch. Continue to Lostwithiel where dinner awaits.

Tuesday - To Padstow on the River Camel, once a busy pilchard port - it still retains plenty of character. We shall visit the Lobster hatchery - see the baby lobsters being reared before they are released into the sea. There will be time admire the hickety-pickety buildings clustered around the harbour. After time for lunch board a cruise on the Jubilee Queen which takes in a coastline of history, beautiful scenery and teeming wildlife.

Wednesday - Visit Fowey, an attractive port- the harbour is flanked by medieval buildings and a maze of narrow streets. You can take a foot ferry over the river to Poulran, a tiny village clinging to the opposite hillside. This afternoon we shall drive to Bodmin and take a guided tour of the Old Courtrooms and visit the original cells. Experience the trial of Matthew Weeks and after hearing the case you can vote if he is guilty or not. then hear the original verdict.

Thursday - This morning to Charlestown, the little port is known for its Hollywood parts, having featured in many films. Still a working harbour, the Shipwreck and Heritage Centre houses artefacts from over 150 ship wrecks and tells the fascinating story of Charlestown (admission included). Later drive to Mevagissey founded in 1313 - In the narrow streets there are gift shops, galleries, craft workshops, cafes and pubs, but the most popular past-time is to eat fish & chips on the quayside - beware the gulls!

Friday - From the hotel to Polperro, undeniably attractive it was a notorious smugglers port. After time for lunch we drive back to Dorset by early evening.
