The Tamar Valley &
Morwellham Quay
|
The River Tamar has formed the border between Devon and Cornwall since Saxon times, and is sometimes regarded more as an international frontier than a county-line. It is an area of breathtaking scenery rich in natural beauty, wildlife and history. Some of the finest landscapes in the West Country seem to compliment magnificent man-made achievements and give clues to an industrial past. Memorable stories are still told and make for a fascinating days cruising with the prospect of a visit to the unique and evocative museum of Morwellham Quay. Here you will be greeted by costumed staff who will guide you through this restored river port, transporting you back to the 1860’s when the quayside bustled with activity – enjoy a mine train ride, discover the Victorian farm, admire restored buildings, cottage gardens and old machinery - there’s even an authentic pub!
