Press Release dated 27.4.07

Bluebird Coaches (Weymouth) Ltd have just taken delivery of their largest and most highly specified coach and probably the most luxurious vehicle in the county.

The brand new vehicle supplied by Mosley in the South of Taunton is presented in a unique livery and marks it out as something a bit special – an almost understated light metallic blue with contrasting dark blue signwriting edged in mirror silver. For those used to the now familiar white Bluebird Coaches, with their striking Blue & Orange splashes, this looks a much classier act altogether.

Another striking difference is that this vehicle is significantly longer – at over 13 metres in length (43 feet) – and has an additional axle to spread he increased weight and improve ride quality. The extra rear axle actually assists in steering, so despite being longer this vehicle can manoeuvre within the same space as its shorter counterparts.

Powered by a 13 litre DAF turbo charged diesel engine developing 460 BHP the coach meets full Euro 4 emission specifications, making it one of the cleanest and greenest vehicles on the road. The driver has the choice of full manual or automatic gear-changes, cruise control system, antilock braking system, satellite navigation system, reversing camera and hands-free mobile phone.

Passenger comfort is unsurpassed and Bluebird believes this coach offers the best possible amount of leg-room. Despite being longer than any other coach the company have only installed 48 luxury leather trimmed seats instead of the usual 53 – you can stretch out, recline and relax as the miles whisk by in unashamed luxury. All seats adjust sideways to allow more elbow room and are equipped with seat-belts, individual seat-back tables, magazine nets, foot rests, retractable arm rests and grab handles.

On-board facilities include the obligatory toilet/washroom, dark tinted windows with curtains, radio/cd player and public address system, a dvd player with two tv screens, air-conditioning system, power operated central off-side door for continental use and is fully carpeted throughout. At the rear is a full-width servery area where the on-board hostess will be able to prepare a wide variety of snacks and drinks. Here are located two fridges, numerous storage cupboards, a sink with hot and cold water supply, coffee perculator and waste bin.

This new vehicle represents a quarter of a million pounds worth of investment by the family run company and is destined to be used extensively on Bluebirds own Holiday Tour Programme. Sadly that may well mean it will not be seen too often running around the town as its duties will keep it away from base touring other parts of the UK and into Europe. However, its reputation is sure to grow as more and more local people experience the benefits of travelling in such luxury, comfort and style – something that Bluebird Coaches are rapidly becoming well know for.

Look out for this unique vehicle on the roads
