Railways Round Exmoor

This is an irresistible and novel way of enjoying the blend of natural beauty and traditional experiences uniquely available in Exmoor.  We have included three very different rail journeys which provide a whole new perspective and views unavailable to road passengers.

The West Somerset Railway

Britains longest heritage railway running 20 miles from Bishops Lydeard through the Quantock Hills and along the Exmoor Coast to Minehead.

Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway

One of the few water powered railways in the World linking the two towns with a vertical drop of 500 feet –

don’t look down!  Stunning views of Lynmouth Bay on the descent.

Lynton & Barnstaple Railway

The legendary narrow-gauge line running through glorious Devon countryside from the delightful Woody Bay station – an on-going restoration project.  Short but oh so sweet!
